For the new folks, Pickles follows a retired couple in their seventies, Earl and Opal Pickles. Around them you will find their daughter Sylvia, her husband Dan, their spoiled little grandson Nelson, a dense but sweet dog named Roscoe, and a moody cat named Muffin who truly believes she owns the house (and honestly, she does).
Brian Crane started the strip in 1990, and it became so loved that it won the prize for Best Comic Strip from the National Cartoonists Society, and Crane himself was named Cartoonist of the Year in 2013. His secret? He based much of the comic on his own grandparents and his own marriage. That is why every single strip feels true.
